McKay Drilling Management would like to recognise Andy Goldsmith for stepping up and teaching others to take over the paint bay. Also stepping up to become very helpful around the yard and workshop. He has done a great job with helping build the new fleet of Hilux’s and other projects in the workshop. Well Done Andy!!
Well Done to Izzy Witt – Performance and Accountability Award
McKay Drilling Management would like to recognise Izzy Witt for completing her TAFE studies with no resits and nearing the completion of her apprenticeship. She has also done an outstanding job on the rod presenter rebuild. Well Done Izzy!!
Well Done to Matt Snell – Accountability and People Award
McKay Drilling Management would like to recognise Matt Snell for supervising Rig 14 at Iron Bridge when the rig breached a high risk cavity on site. The rig was shutdown and the rig and equipment had to be safely removed from the pad. The crew were to work under the client procedure for the task and this was the first time the procedure was to be utilised at Iron Bridge. The crew and Matt had concerns regarding the safety of following the procedure and Matt respectfully raised these concerns at a meeting to discuss the operation and offered solutions for a more acceptable way to complete the task. Matt along with the crew wrote up a JHA to complete the task and procured suitable safety equipment from various departments within the mine to make the task safe. It was a credit to Matt to challenge the status quo from the client and ensure the safety of his team completing the task. Well Done Matt!!

Well Done to Matt Coble, Bailey Hall, Jimmy Robertson, Rob Pollard – Performance Award
McKay Drilling Management would like to recognise Matt Coble & Bailey Hall for heading to site for day trips to conduct the NDT repairs during the busy Christmas period and to Jimmy and Rob for organising accommodation during this time. Well Done Guys!!
Well Done to Allen Roberts- Performance Award
McKay Drilling Management would like to recognise Allen showing great initiative in safety when he noticed a fault with the Oxy set. Allen tagged the oxy set out of service, reported the near miss and repaired the oxy set to make safe again. Well Done!!
Well Done to Callum Underhill – Contractor Recognition
McKay Drilling Management would like to recognise Callum who has been a great asset to McKay’s at Mesa A. He is a contract fitter from Torqued but has shown and followed the McKay Values. He is always asking for jobs when there isn’t any around. He has helped the guys with mast inspections, weekly vehicle inspection and servicing vehicles and rigs. While training and showing the crews about assets and explaining what to look for. Callum isn’t afraid to get in and help. He knows the importance of the operation of the drill rigs. He always works out a plan with the supervisor and or drillers on task to be done. We would like to thank Callum and Torqued for providing the service to McKay’s at Mesa A. Well Done!!
